General Body Piercing Aftercare
Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before touching your piercing.
Clean the piercing twice daily using a sterile saline solution.
Soak a sterile gauze pad and gently apply it to the piercing site.
You may also use a sterile wound wash, available at our front counter.
Rinse with clean water and pat dry with disposable paper towels (avoid cloth towels).
Showering is fine—be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove soap or shampoo residue.
Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or discharge during early healing is normal.
A thin white or yellowish crust is part of the healing process.
Do not rotate or move the jewelry unless directed by your piercer.
Avoid the Following
Touching or playing with your piercing unnecessarily.
Using hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, or ointments (these can delay healing).
Submerging your piercing in pools, lakes, hot tubs, or the ocean.
Applying cosmetics, lotions, sprays, or makeup near the piercing.
Excessive pressure, friction, or snagging—especially with facial and ear piercings.
Piercing-Specific Care Tips
Oral Piercings (Tongue, Lip, Cheek)
Use an alcohol-free mouth rinse after eating and before bed.
Avoid spicy, salty, acidic, or very hot foods and drinks for several days.
Brush gently using a clean, soft-bristled toothbrush.
Minimize talking and avoid playing with the jewelry, especially for tongue piercings.
Navel (Belly Button) Piercings
Wear a clean, breathable bandage or pad during high-risk activities or while sleeping.
Avoid tight, restrictive, or high-waisted clothing that may press against the jewelry.
Nipple Piercings
Soft cotton bras or snug sports bras can help reduce movement and irritation.
Sleep in a clean, soft shirt or bralette for added protection during healing.
Ear, Nose, and Cartilage Piercings
Be mindful of hairstyles, hats, headbands, and accessories.
Avoid sleeping on the pierced side whenever possible.
Final Notes
Healing times vary depending on piercing location—patience and consistency are key.
Jewelry must remain in place at all times during healing.
